GPS Roll-over failure TT-3026 Inmarsat Mini-C

By 30. March 2023April 17th, 2023No Comments

Due to the recent GPS rollover some units of the Mini-C (TT-3026x) experience errors with the date stamp. The errors occurred from March 25th – 2023.

The errors are caused by the GPS module (Ver. 2.X.XX from Garmin) used in units produced before 2009, which are unable to handle the recent GPS rollover. The position indication from these units is correct, but the date is offset by a full “GPS period” of 1024 weeks. This means that the date is 1024 weeks off on the actual date.

Note: TT-3026x units produced after 2009 and the current successor product – TT-3027x – including the GPS module (Ver. 3.X.XX) introduced in 2011 do not have this issue and are continuing to report the date correctly.

The TT-3026xs experiencing this problem in the field are more than 14 years old. It was declared End of Life in May 2011 and End of Service in December 2017.

The GPS module (Ver. 2.X.XX) can no longer be updated and the Mini-C thus needs to be replaced.
